A Message of Sympathy and Solidarity
It is with a heavy heart that we share the devasting news of the tragic loss of Melissa Hortman and Mark, her husband, who were murdered today. Melissa was a dedicated public servant whose leadership left an indelible mark on Minnesota. We extend our deepest condolences to the Hortman family, and all who knew and loved them. This is a heartbreaking loss for our entire Minnesota community.
Our thoughts and fervent prayers are also with Senator John Hoffman and Yvette, his wife, who were allegedly harmed by the same person responsible for the Hortman’s death. The Hoffmans are currently receiving medical care. Please lift them and their families up in prayer for their healing and strength in the days ahead.
As an organization committed to compassion, community and service, we are standing in solidary with those mourning this senseless tragedy, let us hold one another close, and continue to be a source of support and hope during this incredibly difficult time.
Law enforcement are asking people who live in the area to shelter in place, lock their doors, and do not allow strangers into their homes. The manhunt is still underway. Please stay safe & cautious!
