Phoenix Welcomes Golfers & Volunteers Back for Full Golf Tournament

And that’s a wrap! The Russ Douglas Phoenix Golf Classic 2023 has officially ended, and we’re happy to report that it was a success! Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, donated, or sponsored the event! Your  support means the world to us, and we can’t thank you enough for being a part of our big day! You helped make this year’s event a success!

It was our first year back to a full tournament (after an altered event last year). The tournament looked a little different this year as the pandemic encouraged us to rethink how we approach our event. We introduced several new features this year! Instead of our usual sit-down dinner and silent auction, we hosted a Social Hour and Live Auction after golfing – featuring several coveted packages that were a hit, including a sports game package, a North Shore trip, and a Stillwater trip, among others.

We welcomed back the one and only Dan “The Common Man” Cole from KFAN 100.3 to emcee the Live Auction—and he certainly engaged the crowd! He also took to the course hitting balls with of our golfers earlier in the day. Thank you Dan for joining us! 

Also new this year, we offered a Cork Pull, where golfers tried their luck at winning a bottle of wine. And of course, everyone tuned in for the winners of the raffle tickets, golf scramble, and golfing games.

A special SHOUT OUT goes to all our volunteers! We could not have done this without you! We want to thank our staff, 3M volunteers, and several family members who  helped us out that day, including family members Deb Kilgore, Libby Johnson, Amy Broadbent, Jenny Buchanan, and Cheryl Moore. Thank you for volunteering your time!

Also, a special thank you to the Smith Family from Centerville House, who shared their family’s story in the letter that went out in February. 

Finally, thank you to all our donors and sponsors! Your support is invaluable to us! Special recognition goes out to our Major Sponsors, most of whom continue to come back year after year, and all those who donated to our Live Auction and Wine Pull!

All funds raised from the golf tournament went back to our Close the Gap campaign.
