ACT NOW: Senate Still Needs to Support Disability Community

Your advocacy is needed! Please tell Congress to include the disability community in COVID-19 Relief Bill!

We recently received an urgent legislative ask from The ARC, a trade association fighting for the rights of people with  disabilities. On the federal level, we’re still waiting on the legislature to include the disability community in COVID-19 Relief Bill. This is the same bill we told you about back in May.

In May, the House passed its fourth coronavirus package, the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions (HEROES) Act (H.R.6800).

The package included:

  • Increased federal funding for home and community-based services (HCBS) under Medicaid
  • Expanded eligibility for economic impact payments to adult dependents and another round of payments
  • Paid leave eligibility for family caregivers of adults with disabilities, including siblings and grandparents

However, the Senate still has not passed the Act. We urge you to contact your Senators now! We need to ensure people with disabilities and the people who support them are not left behind!

To do, please visit The Arc’s website at the address below to send your Senators an email. They already pre-wrote a message for you, so all you need to do is fill in your information. It will also guides you to share on social media and call your legislators if you would like.
