Minnesota Legislature Adopted Full 5% Rate Increase

2014 Legislature has adopted a full 5% rate increase into their final supplemental budget. The bill is now on its way to the Governor for his signature!

After months of caregivers and DSPs, self-advocates, family members and others attending rally’s at the Capitol, local town hall forums, and writing countless letters to their legislators sharing personal stories on the over-due need for additional funding for Home and Community-Based Services, the 2014 Legislature has adopted a full 5% rate increase into their final supplemental budget! The bill is now on its way to the Governor for his signature, he has indicated support for the increase.

It was your advocacy that made the difference, your personal stories that legislators referred to during floor speeches, and your voice that echoed loudly in the halls of the Capitol during the entire legislative session. The 5% Campaign is thankful to each and every one of you who helped to make this THE priority of the 2014 legislative session.

Take a Moment to Thank Your Legislators

The 5% Campaign is also grateful to all 201 legislators, who showed their support for a 5% increase for Home and Community-Based Services in one way or another. It was through strong bi-partisan support that we were able to accomplish our goal of a 5% increase. Please take a moment to show your legislators your appreciation – to reach your legislators, visit the Minnesota legislator locator website

We could not have accomplished this without the monumental support from our grassroots advocates. Thank you to everyone that contributed in one way or another, you truly made a difference!
