Celebrating Our Unsung Heroes: Our Managers
Our managers from the Northwest Group deserve a round of applause.
Please join us in thanking the managers from our Northwest Group, which includes our Janet Court, Ludden, and Viking homes, and one of our Float Program Supervisors.
Shawna Zechmeister – Assistant Program Director
- Started in 1995
- Previously a Program Manager at Ludden House
- One of our longest-term managers
“One of my favorite memories from the last year is going to be from the Holiday Party and watching all the interactions, dancing with the DJ, and listening to Debbie from Janet Court sing. That definitely was so joyful seeing Debbie with a smile on her face and enjoying the moment.”
From Program Director Kim Phillips: “It is with great admiration and appreciation that I recognize Shawna Zechmeister, who has been a cornerstone of our organization for over 30 years. Her unwavering dedication, deep institutional knowledge, and exceptional grasp of policy have made her an invaluable resource to our team and the individuals we serve.
Throughout the decades, she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence, guiding staff with clarity and compassion, and ensuring our programs operate with integrity and compliance. Her ability to navigate complex regulations while maintaining a person-centered approach is truly remarkable. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a seasoned and principled leader whose legacy continues to shape our mission and values.”
Barbara Essandoh - Janet Court
- Worked as DSP in 2023
- Rehired as PS at Janet in 2025
“I first had the privilege of working with Phoenix from June 2023 to August 2023, and those few months left a lasting impression on me. What drew me back was not just the work itself, but the warmth and genuine sense of belonging that radiates from every member of the team. Phoenix is a place where helping hands are always extended, where guidance is freely given, and where every effort is made to see you flourish in your career journey. It is this spirit of support and growth that inspires me to return with renewed dedication. I look forward to building my future with this company, contributing my very best, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve.”
From APD Shawna Zechmeister: “Barbara had started as a DSP at Newport House and briefly left to further her education. Barbara came back to Phoenix in January of 2025 and is currently a Program Supervisor at Janet Court. Barbara shows her compassion and willingness to learn her role as a manager. Barbara continues to be a positive addition at Janet Court. She is a positive role model for the individuals and has great relationships with family members and the individuals we serve. Every day when Barbara is at the house, she has an individual in her office wanting to spend extra time with her. Often, I find her taking a break and taking someone for a van ride who wants to go to McDonalds. The individuals enjoy her presence at the house and look forward to her arrival daily.”
Sherance Childs – Ludden House
- Started as a DSP in 2023
- Began PS Position at Ludden in 2025
“I look forward to continuing to build a relationship with the residents and staff, and creating some new, amazing memories to share in the future! My favorite part of being here at Ludden is the high energy personalities and the very welcoming atmosphere.”
From APD Shawna Zechmeister: “Sherance is new to Ludden House as a Program Supervisor, but not new to Phoenix. Sherance was a DSP at Newport House, and we are lucky she chose us to spread her wings at, challenge herself, and learn the responsibilities of a supervisor. Sherance brings to the team a positive attitude, fresh ideas, flexibility, and calmness. Sherance shows honesty, worthiness, and a willingness to learn. The individuals connected with Sherance quickly and look forward to seeing her and spending time with her. I look forward to seeing her grow in her supervisor role, see the team she creates, the relationships she builds, and the positive changes she assists with at Ludden.”
Zockinna Bell - Viking House
- Started in 2023
- Previously a DSP
“My favorite memory from the last year was Raynisha’s party at Viking House … she wanted to be a princess and I helped her make her dream come true. Just to see her smile was great and to see how happy she was was wonderful.”
From APD Kim Guderjan & Director of Quality Assurance Shielika Thompson:
“Zockinna consistently goes above and beyond—not just in achieving goals, but in creating an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. She listens actively, communicates clearly, and always make time to mentor and encourage growth. Her integrity, empathy, and strategic thinking have helped us navigate challenges with confidence and clarity.”
“I have witnessed Zockinna’s growth from her first day to becoming a professional greatly appreciated by all who interact with her. Her efforts in ensuring the individuals she serves feel valued and loved are truly commendable. This year has highlighted her expanding professionalism, and I am confident she will continue to excel.”
Tyshelle Summer - Viking House

Lisa Plaster - Float Program Supervisor
- Started in 2020
- Previously a DSP, Program Manager, and Regional Program Coordinator
“My favorite memories are being with everyone at Ludden House. There isn't one memory that stands out. Over the 5 years I have been with Phoenix and Ludden House, we have all grown and learned a lot, from taking Metro Mobility to learning about gardening together, to getting through the ups and downs, and a couple having a commitment ceremony. Every day is a new adventure with everyone at Ludden, and I will always cherish each day I have been here.”
From APD Shawna Zechmeister: “Lisa has been with Phoenix for 5 years. She started as a DSP and soon after became a manager at Ludden House. Lisa has since chosen to become a Float Program Manager and helps at other locations and shares her skills. Lisa currently continues to support Ludden House where she supports self-advocacy and independence. Lisa patiently awaits her new destination to share her skills in all areas as a Program Manager. Over the years, I have seen her grow and strive in her position and build great relationships with family members, team members, and the individuals who live at Ludden. I look forward to working with Lisa and seeing her further her knowledge in other Phoenix homes as a Float Program Manager.”
