Walking for a Cause at Made in the Shade 2018
The Phoenix Residence was among hundreds of individuals with disabilities, their families, and staff members who joined together to walk for their loved ones earlier this month.
For one Saturday in September, individuals, families, and staff of The Phoenix Residence come together to build relationships, celebrate life, and support their loved ones. And this year’s Made in the Shade was no different. Together with six other disability organizations, people from across the Twin Cities joined in on the mission of supporting adults with disabilities.
September 15 proved to be one of the hottest Made in the Shades on record, but that didn’t stop people from coming out and having a good time. After a walk/run around Lake Bde Maka Ska (formerly Lake Calhoun), participants enjoyed a cookout and music all while browsing the vendor booths.
Thank you to everyone who supported us for this year’s Made in the Shade walk! Whether you donated to a house or joined us the day of, we appreciate all your support! All funds raised go directly back to our homes to their specific fundraising goals. Our homes fundraised for activities, such as music therapy, weekend/day trips, and new furniture.
