Minutes for Novmeber 18, 2009

Attending: Libby Johnson, Katie Dwyer, Robert Dwyer, Patrick Dwyer, Darlene Scott, Pat Egan, Jody Docken, Alan Berner, Jennifer Larson, Meredith Jurowski

Agenda

Surveillance Monitoring-

  • We are still on hold with this as the county is working through its position on surveillance monitoring. We have county case managers who act as guardians for people who live at almost all of our sites so without their consent for use in common areas we can not install the equipment within the program.

  • DHS reported that CMS states we can not install in bedrooms (in the ICF/MR sites) due to privacy. We wrote a letter stating this should be resident and/or guardian choice, but DHS has stated their position that they won’t allow is resident bedrooms.

  • Waiver programs, we could possibly install in resident rooms given resident/guardian consent

Legislative Advocacy-

  • We are working on increasing staff, resident and family involvement in Legislative Advocacy

  • Goal to increase our legislators knowledge on who we are.

  • We are also going to be partnering with ARC to help residents become stronger self advocates

  • Meredith reviewed the Family Legislative Advocacy Toolkit. Tools that will help family members complete advocacy

  • Telling Your Story- Provided talking points on how to tell the story

Customer Service Committee-

  • Evaluating customer complaints and utilize that feedback to make changes

  • Improve customer satisfaction- employee retention will enhance the services that are being provided.

  • Also provided training on customer service standards

Therap-

  • Reviewed through the new web based program that we implemented in September 2009. At this time we are using T-logs (daily/shift Progress Notes), General Event Reports (Incident Reports) and S-Comm (internal email system for all staff).

  • We really like the new program, allows immediate access to resident information. Administratively assists us in monitoring what is going on at each of the homes.

  • Staff only have privilege to view information for the sites in which they work. For example, if a staff works only at English House they can only review information on English House residents.
